Chooks are livestock animals that produce eggs when fully fed. See Livestock for details.
If there is a henhouse within 10 tiles, they will lay their eggs there. Unlike other livestock, they can feed directly from soil tiles.
Whenever there are fewer than 4 chooks left on the map (2 for small worlds), one will spawn in on a random unoccupied soil tile. There can be a maximum of 100 chooks in the world at a time.
