Colonists are the people of the Autonauts world. They populate your world and must have all of their needs met to be happy. Happy colonists produce items called Wuv, which are used for research.
How to make[ | ]
Colonists are made through Colonist Seeds. You get a seed by interacting with the Colonist Seed Dispenser. The seed then needs to be placed in a Colonist Incubator. After you also add food to the incubator, a colonist will be "born". Colonists start at level 1 with very basic needs. As they evolve to new levels, they also get more and more complex needs.
The amount of food needed to turn a seed into a colonist depends on the tier of the food, as detailed in the table below.
Food energy values | |
---|---|
Tier | Energy [%] |
1[1] | 20 |
2 | 30 |
3 | 40 |
4 | 50 |
5 | 60 |
6 | 70 |
7 | 80 |
Given the number of tier 1 items that go into producing higher tiers of food, it is more efficient to feed only tier 1 items to the incubator.
Colonist tiers[ | ]
Colonists start out at tier 1, with very basic needs. With research, you unlock new housing for the colonists and each new level of housing also comes with new needs. A colonist will only evolve to a new tier once it is in a new level of housing. Similarly, a colonist that is moved from a higher level housing to a lower level housing will adjust to the housing tier and require less to be happy.
- Level 1 colonists require tier 1 food.
- Level 2 colonists require a crude hut (tier 2 housing) and tier 2 food.
- Level 3 colonists require a log cabin (tier 3 housing), tier 3 food and tier 3 clothing.
- Level 4 colonists require a stone cottage (tier 4 housing), tier 4 food, tier 4 clothing and tier 4 toys (leisure).
- Level 5 colonists require a brick house (tier 5 housing), tier 5 food, tier 5 clothing, tier 5 toys and tier 5 medicine (health).
- Level 6 colonists require a mansion (tier 6 housing), tier 6 food, tier 6 clothing, tier 6 toys, tier 6 medicine and tier 6 education.
- Level 7 colonists require a castle (tier 7 housing), tier 7 food, tier 7 clothing, tier 7 toys, tier 7 medicine, tier 7 education and tier 7 culture.
These requirements are the baseline, a colonist will always accept a higher tier and still be happy. If one or more of their needs aren't met, the colonist will produce wuv corresponding to the lowest level of needs that are met. For example, a level 4 Colonist which has a tier 4 toy, tier 3 clothes, and is fed tier 2 food will only produce level 2 Wuv (Colonist Wuv x 10).
Wuv[ | ]
The main purpose of colonists is to produce Wuv, a resource that is needed to perform research and unlock new items and recipes. Colonists produce Wuv when their needs are met and they are happy. Colonists at level 1 only require food to be happy. Feed them base level (tier 1) food, for example berries or mushrooms, and they will give you Colonist Wuv. You can tell that a colonist becomes happy when they stand up and show a heart icon above their head.
After that animation, and as long as they stay happy, they will stand on their heads and show heart icons. Once they lie down, one or more of their needs aren't met. As long as they stay happy, they will continue to produce Wuv at regular intervals.
The Amount of Time a Colonist stays fed in seconds can be described with the mathematical formula:
20 * tier2 + 10 * tier − 10 seconds [2]
The research value of the Wuv produced can be described with the formula:
10(level of colonist-1)=(value of wuv)
The time it takes to produce Wuv in seconds is determined by the formula:
30 * tier - 15 seconds
Tier | Value | Production time (sec) | Wuv value/second |
---|---|---|---|
1 | 1 | 15 | 0.0666~ |
2 | 10 | 45 | 0.2222~ |
3 | 100 | 75 (1:15) | 1.3333~ |
4 | 1,000 | 105 (1:45) | 9.5238~ |
5 | 10,000 | 135 (2:15) | 74.074~ |
6 | 100,000 | 165 (2:45) | 606.06~ |
7 | 1,000,000 | 195 (3:15) | 5128.20~ |
