Vehicles in Autonauts are used to transport goods or the player. The canoe can transport the player over deep water, the cart and wheelbarrow are used to transport larger amounts of items that can be held in hands or backpacks (excluding bots), as well as particulates (e.g. soil, mortar), and mobile liquid storage can be used to transport liquids.
You can connect to a vehicle with CTRL + Left-click and disconnect with CTRL + Right-click. To get a bot connected with a vehicle you can either teach him to get a vehicle or rightclick him, while being connected to a vehicle and being in throw-range. This also works for disengaging.

Capacity[ | ]
The maximum amount of items that can be stored and transported in carts and wheelbarrows also depends on the item's weight. Heavier items means less space to transport them, and the amount of space follows a (somewhat) linear formula. You can store half as many items if they weigh 2 units, than if they weight 1 unit. This is detailed in the table below:
Vehicle Type | 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 6 | 8 | 12 | 16 |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Crude Wheelbarrow | 20 | 10 | 6 | 5 | 3 | 2 | 1 | 1 |
